"Please give ticket to ticket taker," announced the ride master. . . . . I waited patiently.
As a child I loved to ride the merry-go-round most always astride a beautifully carved and adorned stallion. The experience was quite magical. I challenged myself often to reach for a brass ring. Those were enchanted moments. At age ten I was handed an Argus box camera and my passion for Photography began its magical, mystery, merry ride. Unable to suppress feeling a mysterious harmony with visualization and the sound of the shutter, I continued to feed my hunger to create by purchasing my first 35 mm camera at age thirteen in 1963. I remain captivated by the magical combination. To view, compose, attune to a mystery within, release the shutter and expose the negative gives me pleasure like no other art form I pursued. Thus, faithfully I nourish this mysterious connection and enjoy the harvest of this merry ride. Earth, my birth sign element, has drawn me down many paths of exploration along my journey and from the beginning of this sojourn the powers from "within" have not ceased to amaze me. I still have that ticket !
Summary: Seasons have gone by, my cameras changed but my desire to continue utilizing Photographic silver based film and papers for all of my Black and White art has not wavered. Within the solitude of my darkroom new life begins with the development of every image even the Alternative Photographic methods are nursed within the walls of my solitary darkroom. All of my images are created by traditional methods using square, rectangle and panoramic format cameras. These same cameras are used to capture the images that will also be used for my alternative photographic methods. As you review my site you will see that each portfolio has a "Technical Matters" link located under the main portfolio page for that process. This link will give you information on each process. Enjoy your visit and feel free to contact me with questions. Please use the "contact" link.
