| Hand - Painted Black and White Portfolio Technical Matters |
|
Unlike "Handcolorists," Wallace Nutting or Charles Sawyer, my application of transparent oils to black and white photographs is a harmony of early experience using opaque oils, acrylics, watercolor and pencil on traditional mediums. Somewhat a realist, part of my technique involves mixing colors before and during application upon the photograph and often applying several layers to achieve my desired effect. As a Hand-painter on black and white images for over 15 years, my application of transparent oils is unique to my artistic expression but not meant for every image. My hand-painted artwork has been published on the Sept/Oct 2000 cover of "Photo Techniques" magazine. I have also won various art awards in many shows throughout the Mid-Atlantic states. (more information can be found in the Biography link) In addition, as a representative for Marshall's Photographic Oils and their distributor, Brandess-Kalt-Aetna Group, Inc. I instruct workshops throughout the Mid-Atlantic area on these techniques.
